Tanjōji Temple

2015-10-04

Don’t you think that the name of this temple is unusual?
Tanjōji Temple was constructed on the ruins of the family home of the founder of Jōdo Buddhism, Hōnen Shōnin. The main hall and main gate are designated as important cultural properties, and the temple boasts a rich history.
The giant ginko tree at the entrance has been designated as a natural monument of Okayama Prefecture, and is apparently 850 years old. I felt like I was receisving energy being close to it. As autumn deepens the colour of this ginko tree will become stained with yellow. I recommend that you visit in autumn if you get a chance. I think you will be fascinated by the dignified and unexaggerated stateliness and charm. And of course, be sure to receive your own energy!
Breathing in deeply while walking slowly down the beautifully maintained temple path is a welcome distraction from the strain of daily like.
