Trout Catching Festival

2018-08-12

The town of Nishiawakura has held a Trout Catching Festival for the past 20 or so years.
Every August, anywhere from 50 to 100 locals dip into the town river to try and catch by hand (or net) farm-raised river trout. The cool water of the river helps everyone involved to cool off during the oppressive summer heat.

Volunteers from Tottori University, Okayama University, and VOLT (Volunteering in Okayama’s Local Towns) come together and assist in checking people in, setting up stations, and making sure that people are having a fun, safe time.
