About OPIEF
Okayama Prefectural International Exchange Foundation
The Okayama Prefectural International Exchange Foundation was established in March 1991 through the combined efforts of the Okayama Prefectural Government, intraprefectural municipalities, various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) and numerous businesses from the local private sector.

By actively pursuing a wide range of exchange between the local Japanese and international communities, the OPIEF hopes to contribute to the process of making the region's people more internationally-conscious, and in doing so, pormoting world peace and prosperity.

The OPIEF administers The Okayama International Center in addition to the following activities
For the International Community
  • Gives general information and advice on living, sightseeing, traveling and accommodation.
  • Assists overseas trainees and students currently living in Okayama
  • Holds various international exchange events.
  • Holds Japanese language classes.
For Municipalities and NGO/NPOs
  • Gives general information and advice on international exchange activities.
  • Supports and co-sponsors their international exchange activities.
  • Coordinates international exchange organizations.
For the Local Japanese Community
  • Gives general information and advice on overseas countries and various international exchange activities.
  • Holds foreign language classes, seminars and symposiums which focus on international issues.
  • Administers the international exchange volunteer system
  • Accepts and gives support and advice to Overseas Technical Trainees in Okayama.

The OPIEF office is on the 1st floor of the Okayama International Center,
5-minute walk from the west entrance of JR Okayama Station. See the map below:
